A Bangladeshi Cleaner who was ridiculed online for a photograph of him looking wistfully at expensive jewellery has been showered with gifts by strangers.
A cleaner from Bangladesh working in Saudi Arabia was ridiculed online by an Arab Troll who took a picture of the 65 year old Nazer al-Islam Abdul Karim with a with the cruel caption ‘This man only deserves to look at rubbish.’
The photo was circulated on a Private Instagram account which caught the attention of twitter user Abdullah Al-Qahtani, 38, who runs @ensaneyet twitter account, Who quickly started asking people online to help track Nazer al-Islam Abdul Karim.
Following this mean-spirited Instagram post by the troll, there was an outpouring of support for Abdul Karim who has since received gifts including Rice, pure honey gold jewellery and an 2 iPhones.
Al-Qahtani’s post was retweeted more than 7000 times and people who recognised the area started investigating from the reflection from the shop window to locate and pin point the exact location. Karim was not even aware that his picture was taken.
He told CNN: ‘I was just doing my job as a cleaner in the municipality and found myself in front of the gold shop. I am very happy about the gifts. I am Very Thankful.’
So many well-wishers have donated items for Karim money, food and return tickets to Bangladesh. Al-Qahtani is still in the process of sending these items to this now famous Bangladeshi Cleaner Nazer al-Islam Abdul Karim.
